Hello.
I’m Cailynn, an experienced freelance writer, editor and journalist based in Alberta.
I’m also a content marketing writer and communications strategist specializing in the outdoors. I work with destination marketing organizations, Indigenous tourism associations and outdoor nonprofits to create engaging content. Learn more about my client services.
My journalism has appeared in outlets including The New York Times, The Guardian, The Globe and Mail, Canadian Business, Report on Business Magazine and the CBC, among others. I’ve also worked as a staff reporter for the Edmonton Journal and taught journalism at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology. My reporting covers a range of topics, with a focus on urban affairs and urban cycling. View my journalism portfolio here.
I co-write the newsletter Go Outside with Annalise Klingbeil, and I co-created an online course with Tom Babin of Shifter: The Ultimate Guide to Bike Commuting and Urban Cycling. Away from my desk, I’m often outside, cargo biking around town with my young sons or heading to the nearby Rocky Mountains to hike and ski.
I’m a member of the Métis Nation of Alberta, and I live in Calgary. Find me on Bluesky or contact me at cailynn.klingbeil@gmail.com.
